Biosynexus Incorporated is a biopharmaceutical company that is commercializing a portfolio of products for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. The company has focused its initial efforts on developing products for the prevention and treatment of hospital acquired – nosocomial – staphylococcal infections.

The cost of nosocomial infections from antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the United States is in excess of $4 billion annually. With the rise in antibiotic resistance and increased nosocomial infection rates, a great burden has been placed on the care of the immunocompromised, such as premature newborns, cancer patients, transplant patients, and diabetics. Due to the rise in antibiotic resistance, current treatments and products are becoming less effective against, and creating more resistant strains of, nosocomial infections.

Biosynexus is developing a portfolio of products for commercialization for the prevention and treatment of multi-drug resistant staphylococcal infections. The two lead products are BSYX-A110 and Lysostaphin.
Both products have undergone extensive pre-clinical research with excellent results. BSYX-A110 has completed Phase IIa human clinical trials. Lysostaphin has completed Phase I/II human clinical trials.

In October 2002 Biosynexus and GlaxoSmithKline entered into an exclusive collaborative and licensing agreement to develop and commercialize staph antibodies and vaccines to prevent staphylococcal infections.
In addition, Biosynexus has collaborations with numerous thought leaders in infectious disease research throughout the world. These collaborations provide additional insight and independent validation of the work we are doing to bring products to market.
